COVID-19 3D Print it Forward

Folks in the USA and all around the world are suddenly finding themselves with a lot of extra time at home due to limited working and shelter in place orders. Many sewing experts (my wife included) have taken to making basic cloth facemasks to help as one line of defense. Great work! My company is still operating (we’re a small group anyway) and I’m working remotely, but a 3D printer requires very little interaction once it’s begun its work. It’s been hard to find a solid organized project to use this tool for more than just novelties and gaming and [..]

There Once Was a Card Deck That Lived in a Shoe…

Over fours years ago (wow…time flies) I presented my cut and fold card shoes (Shoe Enough, You Might Find These Handy) you could make from cardstock. Cool and functional and I still have some that I made way back when. However, I finally decided to upgrade these to the new media of 3D printing and designed a series of eight different styles to serve a variety of functions on your game table. With enough meaningful decisions and (fortunately) minimal pre-game deck construction headaches. The box comes with an actually pretty decent plastic tray for holding the cards and a couple of wells for holding the counters, but I wanted them to be sorted from box to table. At first I tried the (actually very nice) small Dollar Tree Plano-esque box and it held the counters perfectly. But then it would not fit back in the [..]

Blinging the Fallout… Tryin’ to Get the Game Out

Was and am not a hater of the other board game based on the Fallout IP, but when I saw the new Fallout: Wasteland Warfare published by Modiphius Entertainment included solo AI rules, my interest was piqued and I placed my order. Finally cracked it open yesterday the first thing I noticed was there are LOTS OF LITTLE COUNTERS. Wow… Tiny little things that make 1/2″ wargame counters seem a blessing (and I hate 1/2″ wargame counters!). After punching (and peeling them as they sadly weren’t cleanly punched), I organized them into little piles to determine how best to organize [..]
